how it all began…
It was probably Two Socks, the wolf from Dances with Wolves, who first sparked our childhood dream of having a „wolf“ of our own. Knowing that sharing our lives with a real wolf would never be possible, it didn’t take long—especially after watching Game of Thrones and spending countless hours researching—for us to realise what we were truly looking for: a dog with the striking appearance of a wolf, combined with the temperament and reliability of a devoted family companion.
That search eventually led us to the Northern Inuit.
about us
We are Andreas and Melanie, sharing our lives with our dogs Beanie, Skadi and Zippy, our cats Mau Mau and Husky, and our tortoise Forrest Gump.
Our home is a peaceful detached house with a spacious garden and a small private woodland, nestled just a short distance from the beautiful Lake Wörthersee in Carinthia, Austria. Dogs have been part of both our lives since childhood, and over the years they have become not just companions, but an integral part of our family and everyday life.

Northern Inuitour philosophy
Our greatest priority is to give our dogs the very best life we can. A loving home, appropriate mental and physical enrichment, high-quality nutrition, plenty of time outdoors, and regular interaction with other dogs form the foundation of their daily lives.
As breeders, we are dedicated to producing healthy, well-socialised puppies while preserving the breed standard. Our breeding programme is guided by the NIIU Code of Ethics and reflects our commitment to responsible, ethical breeding.
We apply the same care and dedication to our puppies as we do to our own dogs. From the very beginning, they receive everything they need to develop into confident, well-balanced companions. Their socialisation starts on day three with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and is further supported through the Puppy Culture programme.
When it comes to placing our puppies, we believe that finding the right match is just as important as raising them well. We carefully consider each puppy’s individual personality alongside the lifestyle and expectations of their future family, giving every puppy the best possible start in life. For this reason, meeting prospective owners in person is something we value highly.
